Composer and jazz saxophonist Kevin Pike loves a concept album. He has recorded and released 19 of them under his own name and with other musicians. In addition to saxophone, Kevin incorporates a variety of instruments into his recordings including banjo, mandolin, guitar, flute, lap steel guitar, piano, cavaco banjo, world percussion and various toy instruments. He also uses experimental recording techniques such as recording individual tracks in different rooms and locations, varipitch sampling (pitch and tempo manipulation) and layering ambient sounds from field recordings.

Current Project: sax and banjo album
The combination of saxophone and banjo is not that common other than in dixieland music. Kevin is working on an album that combines the 2 instruments in many different styles, including jazz, funk, country, blues, third stream and Brazilian-influenced music. The album drops in 2024, but you can hear some of the tracks on this youtube playlist.
